Good Vibes Only: Tips for staying positive at home during COVID19
At this point, many of us have been practicing social distancing for a few weeks, maybe longer. At times, it can get lonely, you can feel frustrated, lack motivation for work, or just need a break from the family. We are all itching to get out and socialize, tired of staring at the same 4 walls all day, completely ready for a change of scenery.
As we know, the best thing for everyone to do at this time is to stay home. This is a great opportunity for you to recognize how lucky you are to have your home, celebrate your space, and maybe even get in some spring cleaning.
Here are a few tips for staying positive at home during COVID19.
Keep your house tidy
Clean houses and organized spaces have been proven to reduce stress and make you happier, as well as improve eating and exercising habits AND make you more productive at work.
Use the extra time for spring cleaning
You’ve got the time, take advantage of it. I’ve been making a daily to-do list, one for work, and one for life. Life to-do items include cleaning my closet, going through clothes that I don’t wear anymore, and donating them to organizations in need. Organize areas of your home that might have taken a backseat to other tasks.
Spend some time doing nothing.
And by doing nothing, I don’t mean watching TV. Take 15-20 minutes to just sit in your home and do nothing. Relax your neck and face, breathe deeply, and remember that this too shall pass. Be grateful for what you have.
Appreciate more
If you have a roof over your head and food in your fridge, remember that some people aren’t as lucky. Appreciate what you have around you, whether it be the material items or the people at home with you. In times of stress and where things are so uncertain, it can be easy to only see the negative in life.
